Tech: Lenovo unveils three new Yoga laptops

Lenovo recently added three new convertible laptops to its Yoga family, including a budget laptop, Yoga 300, available within Rs 31K

After impressing upon us with the innovative design of the Lenovo Yoga 3 pro earlier this year, the Chinese company announced three additions to its line-up of Yoga convertible laptops — Yoga 300, Yoga 500 and Yoga 3.

While the Yoga 300 is a budget convertible featuring 11.6-inch HD touch screen (1368x768), and is powered by Intel Pentium Quadcore N3540 processor, the Yoga 500 is a 14-inch Full HD screen running on 5th generation Intel Core i7 processor (no clarity yet) and comes with up to 2GB Nvidia Geforce 940M graphics on board. The Yoga 3, on the other hand, features a 14-inch Full HD screen with 5th generation Intel Core i7 processor.

The Yoga 3 will be available in two variants, offering a choice between 256GB SSD and 500GB SSHD internal storage, weighing around 1.6Kg (for SSD)and 1.7 kg (for SSHD). The Yoga 3 starts at Rs 86,990.

The Yoga 500, in contrast, is available at a starting price of Rs 57,990. It offers a choice between 1TB HDD or a 1TB SSHD and between 14-inch and 15.6-inch display; the device weighs 1.8 kg (14-inch version) and 2.1 kg (for a 15.6-inch version).

The least expensive among the lot is the Yoga 300, which also weighs less at 1.39 kg. It comes with Integrated Intel Graphics and offer a choice between 1TB HDD or 500GB SSHD and RAM upto 8GB.

The Yoga 300 price starts at Rs 30,490. All the three devices can support up to 8GB of RAM and come with Windows 8.1. As for connectivity, all the three Yoga laptops come with an HDMI port, a 4-in-1 card reader, a RJ-45 LAN port,Bluetooth 4.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11 a/c and come in-built with Windows 8.1. The difference, however, lies in the USB ports as both the Yoga 3 and Yoga 500 feature two USB 3.0 ports and one USB 2.0 port with DC-in function, the Yoga 300 has only one USB 3.0 and two USB 2.0 ports.

Though, it’s too early to comment about the performance of the three laptops Lenovo didn’t mind taking a jibe at a particular US competitor on the so-called lack-of-flexibility in its laptops. Watch this space for a full review soon.
