With inflation biting into your daily budget, wouldn't it be great to shop for your monthly rations at wholesale prices? Ample, an e-commerce portal-cum-app is making this happen for everyday buyers. Now available on Android OS, it is based on the lines of the Indian Army canteen system. The portal was launched in February this year, and is now available as an Android app.

How it works
You sign-up as a member after paying a membership fee, which costs Rs 69 per order, or Rs 540 per year (Rs 45 a month) and you are good to go. At present, the company is offering a 90-day trial period or three orders for all new customers. So, you can try it out before buying a paid membership. Next, add the products to the cart, either on the Ample app or the portal Buyample.com, make the payment, and you an expect it to be delivered to your doorstep.
What we like
The service has a seven-day return policy on non-food products and at-the-time-of-delivery return on food products like packaged food, staples and baby food. However, the consumer is required to pay Rs 25 as convenience fee for all returns.
The biggest difference between Ample and other wholesale stores is that you don't need to own a business shop at Ample. The portal is open to business owners as well as individual shoppers to buy products for their consumption. Secondly, all orders are delivered at your doorstep within 48 hours without any extra cost provided your order value is Rs 1,999 or higher. But you can get products worth less delivered as well after paying a delivery charge of R49. Third, every product is delivered in well-packed Ample boxes that makes storing them easier. Home delivery is available across Mumbai. What's better is that the company allows you to check your products on delivery before making payments. As for payments, the service offers support for multiple modes of payments including net banking, credit card, debit card as well as card on delivery and cash on delivery.
What we don't
Unfortunately, the services are not available in Thane, Navi Mumbai and Mira-Bhayander. Also, we didn't like the idea of fee that one is required to pay when a product is returned.
