Teen's suicide note says he took his life as he failed to achieve anything
The 18-year-old was found hanging from the ceiling fan last morning; his father says he had remained aloof from family and friends for the past few days
A First Year Commerce student from Malad (East) committed suicide at his Kurar residence early last morning. The suicide note found in the 18-year-old’s pocket revealed that he was taking his life as he had failed to achieve anything big in life.
According to the Kurar police, Hemant Khadawde took his life in a chawl at Azad Nagar, where he lived with his father Harish Chandra and younger sister. Hemant was a student of Mittal College in Malad (West).
Hemant’s father Harish revealed to cops that after dinner on Sunday night, he went up to his room on the first floor, while he and his daughter slept on the ground floor.
At 6 am the next morning, when Harish went upstairs to wake up his son, he found him hanging from the ceiling fan. Harish informed police officers immediately, who arrived at the spot. They searched Hemant’s pocket and found a suicide note written in Hindi.
“The suicide note stated that he was taking the step as he could not achieve anything big for his father and sister, and that nobody should be blamed for his actions,” said Subhash Dafle, senior police inspector of Kurar police station.
The police have registered a case of accidental death and are investigating the case. In his statement to the police, Harish said that over the past few days, Hemant had remained aloof from his family and friends.
“We have sent Hemant’s body for a post mortem to Bhagwati hospital. We are in the process of recording the statements of Hemant’s family and friends to find out whether he had discussed anything with them,” said an officer from the Kurar police station.
