The Pune Anti-Terrorist Cell (PATC) has started investigations into Wednesday's incident of a letter reaching the security in-charge of an IT hub in Hadapsar in which an anonymous person warns of terror attacks at major establishments in the city.

The security in-charge had received the letter at 11 am and immediately contacted the Hadapsar police station. “We have started the investigation in this matter and are trying to trace the person who had sent the handwritten letter,” Senior Police Inspector Sunil Tambe of the PATC said.

May be a prank
He said the letter might be a prank but they could not afford to take it lightly. He said security at all sensitive places in the city had been upped and all police stations alerted.

The police have also began checking lodges, hotels, cybercafes and are keeping a watch on the movements of some members of banned organisations in the city. In the letter, places like Osho Ashram, North Main Road, Koregaon Park Plaza, Hard Rock Café, Oakwood Hotel, Westin Hotel and some IT establishments in the city are stated to be on the radar of terrorists.

The writer said the terrorists were waiting to execute bomb blasts at these places. The letter also said that some anti-national elements were already in the city and had a large quantity of explosives with them to carry out the attacks.
