A telecom engineer while on his regular inspection duty was killed on the spot when a goods train ran over him near Kopar station yesterday at around 12:15 pm.

The deceased, Navneet Pal, in his 50s was on an inspection along with a porter to check the maintenance of railway tracks.
The 59-year-old porter, Dehu Dhave received injuries and has been rushed to Kalyan hospital.
Navneet held the post of Assistant divisional signal and Telecom Engineer (Group B) at the time of his death.
His colleagues recall him as a sincere and a hardworking employee. He is survived by his wife and a daughter.
