The complainant is Haresh Nandalal Meharchandani, who owns Haresh Restaurant and Bar in Ulhasanagar 4 and has been running the establishment for over 26 years. “Naveen Keshwani, one of the accused, is a local goon. On December 5, he sent one of his boys to my hotel to purchase a cigarette. There was no cigarette available with us, so we refused him and he left. Keshwani then came and started abusing us, stating that he will come back again the next day and shut down the shop. He said he’ll see how I run the hotel and left the hotel muttering abuses,” said Haresh.

Acting on threat
Keshwani stuck to his threat. “On Tuesday night, Keshwani came along with more than 12 people and few others who accompanied him had bamboo sticks with them. They started hitting the counter and broke the computer, LCD, and monitor and assaulted me and bar manager Abdul Mohammed,” added Haresh who has suffered injuries on his head and hands.
Fled with money
After afflicting the necessary damage, the accused fled with '5,000 kept in the counter of the bar. The owners then informed the Vitthalwadi police. A case has been registered under Sections 395 (Dacoity), 427 (Mischief causing damage to the amount of fifty rupees), 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace) and 506 (Criminal intimidation) of IPC.

“We have registered a case against Naveen Keshwani and 12 others. The CCTV footage from the hotel clearly shows them attacking [the owners and hotel] and on the basis of it, we are searching for them. Keshwani has attempt to murder and assault cases against him,” said SJ Shirsath, senior PI, Vitthalwadi police station.
