In a bizarre solution to trap his wife, whom he had to pay every month while their divorce process was on, an auto driver killed his 25-day-old daughter born to his second wife, and went to lodge a complaint of kidnapping against the first spouse.

According to the Waliv police, on Thursday evening, Chauhan approached them and wanted to register a case of kidnapping against Vimal, his first wife. He alleged that she had kidnapped his 25-day-old daughter to take revenge.

The police were in the middle of registering an FIR, when they were informed by locals about the body of an infant lying in a well at the Navjeevan Nagar society at Vasai East.

The police fished out the body and identified her with the help of her mother.

They then called Vimal and began questioning her. They also went to Chauhan’s house at Navjeevan Nagar.

Nailed by pillow case
While searching his house, the police found a pillow cover that was the same as the one in which the girl’s body had been wrapped. The police then interrogated Chauhan who confessed to killing his daughter to implicate his first wife.

The police said Chauhan was married to Vimal and they have a four-year-old son who stays with her. Chauhan was currently living with his second wife, Priya, their two-and-half-year-old son Ayush, and 25-day-old daughter Pari.

‘Fed up of divorce’
Police said Chauhan had been paying compensation every month to Vimal, and was quite upset about the divorce, so he planned to frame her for his daughter’s abduction and murder. He wanted to take revenge and get her arrested. Police Inspector CS Patil, from the Waliv police station, said they have arrested Chauhan for murder under Section 302 of the Indian Penal Code. They will produce him before a court on Saturday.
