A 43-year-old godman from Thane has been arrested by the Vartak Nagar police station for sexually assaulting a married woman. The accused, on the pretext of performing black magic rituals, and promising that she would deliver a child if she followed his instructions, molested the woman.

The arrested accused has been identified as Yogesh Khupekar (43). He was arrested late on Thursday night and will be produced in Thane sessions court today.
The complainant, a 29-year-old woman, is a resident of Sarvarkar Nagar in Thane. In her statement to the police, said that she is a married, but didn’t have a child from the last few years. Depressed, she approached the godman, who assured him that by performing certain rituals, the couple will get a child.

"On Wednesday, she along with her husband were called by the godman. The couple was then asked to perform sexual intercourse in front of the godman. After sometime, the godman asked her husband to leave the room, claiming he wanted to perform rituals. Later, the accused, in the name of rituals, molested her by touching her body parts. The woman found something amiss, and immediately went away. The couple then approached the Vartak Nagar police station to register a case, informed a senior officer from Vartak Nagar police station.
A case has been register at Vartak Nagar police station under section 354 (Assault or criminal force to woman with intent to outrage her modesty) and 376 (Punishment of Rape) of the Indian Penal Code and different sections of the The Maharashtra Prevention and Eradication of Human Sacrifice and other Inhuman, Evil and Aghori Practices and Black Magic Act, 2013.
