Thane: An 18-year-old boy was strangulated to death allegedly by his elder brother here over a minor dispute, police said today.

The incident took place last night in Pagdha of Bhiwandi taluka here when the two brothers--Vilas Waghe and Raju Waghe-- got into an altercation over a petty money matter in the house, PI J M Bhosale of Padgha police station told PTI.

The matter took an ugly turn when the elder brother Vilas (22) lost his temper and hit Raju and then strangulated
him, killing him on the spot. Police have registered a case under sections 302 (murder), 323 (Voluntarily causing hurt) and 504 (Intentional insult with intent to provoke breach of the peace)of the IPC against Vilas on a complaint made by his mother Surekha Waghe.

The body has been sent for postmortem. Vilas is absconding since the incident and no arrest has been made so
far, police added.
