It's almost a scene out of a fairytale. Imagine you have ordered a cake, out of which a petite model pops out with a bottle of champagne the moment you move forward to cut it. And no, this doesn't happen in dreams and Hollywood movies only.

A select few in the Capital were witness to the incident on Sunday during a private party at a Vasant Kunj farmhouse. The occasion was a celebratory party for 26-year-old IT professional Anubhav Gupta. "My friends came up with the idea. I was quite surprised. It was something I had only seen in foreign movies," said Gupta.

Sweet surprise
The cake, which was vanilla and coffee chocolate, was 8ft wide and 5ft high and weighed a staggering 300kgs. "It took 9-12 hours to prepare it at the venue," said Adnan Vahanvaty, managing director, Bagels & Brownies, who made the cake.

So how did they achieve this feat? Was the cake made around the model? Was there space made for the model to get in later? "That's the trade secret," said Vahanvaty, chuckling.

The cake cost upwards of Rs 1 lakh. "We got the idea from Hollywood movies," said Vahanvaty. While this is a first for the confectioner, they don't want to stop here. "We will arrange the model and take our team to make it anywhere in India," Vahanvaty
promised.
