The government has given Qasab the punishment I was expecting. I remember the incident at least once a day. He was the enemy of our country.

He tried to kill me and I tried to kill him but somehow we both survived and got a chance to escape from CST station premises. I tried my best, but how could a rifle match the level of an AK 47?”

— Jillu Yadav (56), assistant sub-inspector, was posted at CST station. Yadav fired his colleague’s rifle at one of the terrorists, but it jammed

“I fired 22 rounds from my pistols and was fired upon twice but I survived. This 26/11 will be a great day, and the government has given us the best gift possible. Qasab has got his punishment at the right time after all the legal procedures were followed.

It is the best example in front of the world that India has followed all the legal procedures, found him guilty, given him the death penalty. Four years back, I was not sure whether I would be alive or not but now, it feels great that he has been given the biggest punishment.”

— Sandeep Khiratkar, inspector, Railway Protection Force. Khiratkar was posted at CST station, and forced the two terrorists to retreat when he returned heavy retaliatory fireu00a0
