"The film is essentially not a 9/11 movie but a coming-of-age story of a young man who finds out who he really is in a polarising universe. I made the film because I lamented that post 9/11, there has been a real lack of conversation between America and the rest of the world. It is my attempt to create a bridge and dialogue between the two sides," Mira told PTI here. The film stars British-Pakistani actor Riz Ahmed as Changez.

Hollywood stars like Kate Hudson, Liev Schreiber and Kiefer Sutherland play key roles in the movie besides Indian actors -- Shabana Azmi and Om Puri. Mira, 55, is happy to have brought together talent from different parts of the world to tell the story of her movie. "I think a film like this has not been made before therefore not seen before.

Also, there is no other film that has a brown person in the lead and supported by A-listers from both Bollywood and Hollywood. I have also introduced a lot of talent from Pakistan," the director said.

'The Reluctant Fundamentalist', based on Pakistani author Mohsin Hamid's book of the same name, is being released in India by PVR on May 17. It will also hit the screens in Pakistan on the same day.u00a0
