Having never played the original Sly games, this review isn't coming from the perspective of someone playing an old series rebooted on the PS3.
Playing these games for the first time it wasn't hard to cast my judgment on The Sly Trilogy -- they're wonderful games, with a childish feel that adds to the charm. 
The first thing that you'll notice when playing these games are the graphics. They violently jump out at you but look visually pleasing. With a cartoony feel and comic book style, they manage to look authentic and stay away from being labelled as cheap.
The platforming in Sly is satisfying, though they haven't gone for a realistic feel. The stories that lead to the platforming are also quite solid. While they aren't exactly cinematic wonders, the games do manage to string together some interesting missions that highlight Sly's cleverness and adds to the character. In this respect, the games work.
With all three games plastered in trophies there's more replay value and it's lovely to get trophies while playing in a higher resolution, HD quality.
If you have never played the originals, here's some advice -- Sucker Punch are the same guys that developed InFamous, and all InFamous is, is a grown up version of Sly with super powers and enjoyable additions. For a lighthearted approach to gaming, go with this collection -- it's worth the money.
