While investigating the teenager's detailed account, cops took her to a hospital for medical tests, where doctors failed to detect any internal or external injury to her private parts
After a 17-year-old mute and deaf girl brazenly concocted a story of her own rape in a public toilet, her mother took her to the police to register an FIR. The cops then took her to Rajawadi hospital in Ghatkopar (East) for medical tests. While cops investigated the case in earnest, they started feeling that something was amiss when medical tests revealed that there were no injuries, external or internal, to the girl’s private parts.
According to doctors attached to the hospital, the teenager was brought in around 5.30 am to the casualty ward accompanied by her mother, sister, and the police. She was then referred to the gynaecologists for examination.

“Since she is mute and deaf, we initially had problems understanding her, but she communicated in sign language with her mother, who narrated an incident that we found very shocking,” said a doctor who did not wish to be named.
The story
In her elaborate and detailed story, the ‘victim’ claimed that she had left her home in Upper Trombay around 3 pm on Wednesday to buy some stationery for an exam. She said she was passing through a deserted lane leading to a seldom-used public toilet, when two men forcibly dragged her into one of the toilets. They locked her in, and while one of the accused held her hand, the other forced himself on her. The girl even revealed that the rapist wore a condom. She said that they had let her go after the having their way with her, and escaped themselves.
Doctors who examined her could not detect any external or internal injuries to her private parts, other than a few bruises on her arms, which they later realised were self-inflicted. They took nail clippings, hair samples and even swabs from the girl and prepared to send them to the Kalina forensic laboratory for examination. They had even prepared to send her for counselling.
Thankfully, the victim’s mother had preserved the clothes that the victim wore at the time of incident.
She had even prevented her daughter from taking a bath before being medically examined.
The cops even spoke to the girl’s teachers and friends. As there are a good number of shanties around the public toilet, the police also looked for witnesses who might have heard the cries of the victim. And the wild goose chase continued till she admitted that she had cooked up the story to explain why she had left the home without informing her parents. u00a0
