Officials of the Chatushringi and the Deccan-Gymkhana police station held three persons, including two minors, for their involvement in vehicle thefts.

Police officials from the Chatushringi police station detained a 15-year-old Std IX student for stealing a couple of two-wheelers from FC Road and Deccan. Officials said the boy used to steal two-wheelers using duplicate keys and would roam around the city, as he was fond of motorcycles. u00a0API Mahesh Bolkotgi said, “We recovered two motorbikes from his possession and he was sent to the correction home.” u00a0
The teenager was detained on Saturday evening on Senapati Bapat Road with a two-wheeler he had stolen from Deccan. Bolkotgi said the teenager belongs to a poor family and resides in the slum near Model Colony. He said during interrogation the boy confessed to stealing a moped from near a mobile shop on FC Road.

“After stealing it, he roamed around the city and later parked it front of his house as the moped ran out of fuel,” Bolkotgi said. The boy later stole another two-wheeler in Deccan and went for a joyride in the city. But his luck ran out after a few police officials, who recognised that he was riding a stolen vehicle, intercepted and detained him. The officials had received the description and registration number of the stolen vehicle on their wireless system.
Case two
Two persons, including a 16-year-old, were nabbed by officials of the Deccan-Gymkhana police station for allegedly stealing a moped from Law College Road on February 2. Ankita Harimani, a 21-year-old law student, had registered the complaint.
Officials said the Sunny Eknath More (19) and the teenager stole the moped and went on a joyride. They later hid it. But a few traffic personnel spotted the duo riding the stolen moped on Saturday, following which they were nabbed. While further investigation is on, officials suspect the duo of executing similar crimes the city. u00a0
