Thulasi, Arundhati, Sai Praneeth enter main draw of Singapore Open
Indian shuttlers PC Thulasi, Arundhati Pantawane and B Sai Praneeth entered the main draw after winning the qualification rounds of their respective categories at the Singapore Open Super Series here.
Sai Praneeth, who sent legendary Taufik Hidayat into retirement last week, won both his men’s singles qualification matches.
The youngster beat Japanese Riichi Takeshita 21-12, 22-20 in 36 minutes after overcoming Malaysian Muhammad Hafiz Hashim 21-13, 21-15 in 26 minutes.
Arundhati and Thulasi also entered the women’s singles main draw.
Arundhati first thrashed Russian Anna Astrakhantseva 21-5, 21-10 in 17 minutes before beating local girl Xiaoyu Liang 21-14, 21-16 in half an hour.
Meanwhile, Thulasi beat Vietnamese Thi Trang Vu 21-18, 21-17 in 38 minutes in the first round and Thai Chochuwong Pornpawee 18-21, 21-13, 21-8 in 51 minutes.
