Time for some Jimi jam

The guitar always sounded great when it was in Jimi Hendrix's hands. It's no wonder then that The Purple Haze and Foxy Lady singer has been voted as the best guitarist of all times in a magazine poll. CS tells you more about him:u00a0

>>u00a0Jimi got his first guitar at the age of 15. Till then he would treat his broomstick as a guitar.

>>u00a0As a teenager growing up in Seattle, he taught himself to play guitar by listening to records by blues guitarists Muddy Waters and B.B. King and rockers such as Chuck Berry and Eddie Cochran.

>>u00a0Jimi and his friend Eric Clapton, popularised the use of the wah-wah pedal in mainstream rock which he often used to deliver an exaggerated pitch.

>>u00a0He was somewhat ambidextrous. Although he wrote right-handed, he naturally played guitar left-handed, much to the chagrin of his dad who said that playing left-handed was a sign of the devil.

>>u00a0He was a devout Bob Dylan fan, often to the annoyance of friends and girlfriends as he would play Dylan's records over and over. Jimi's cover of Dylan's 'All Along the Watchtower' so impressed Dylan that he now performs the song as a Hendrix tribute.

>>u00a0Jimi once got in trouble with the law for riding in a stolen vehicle. He got the choice of two years in prison, or joining the army. He chose the army and lasted there for a year. He pretended to be gay to avoid being drafted to war. That is why his sexuality is a matter of dispute.
