Bangalore Bullet Club calls all lovers of the bike for a 800-km ride through places steeped in history
Au00a0few months ago it was a ride through the Western Ghats in the state, an expedition that had kept up with the nature-appreciation theme of last year's Leh ride. The Bangalore Bullet Club is now gearing up for another ride, this time with history for a theme.
Over a hundred Bullet bike enthusiasts are set to explore Hampi, the Unesco World Heritage Site of the Vijayanagara empire fame, and other historical places in Volume 3 of Bulleteers, as the club calls the expedition.
Riding through these places of historical importance this winter, the Bullet enthusiasts plan to pick up on our glorious past along the way.
The club, which has several techies working with various city software companies as its members, has started the process of enrolling Bullet enthusiasts for the adventure ride.
Past forward
"The Bulleteer Volume 3 expedition is unique; we have chosen historical places this time," said Arvin Padmanabha, organiser of the ride. "The expedition aims to create awareness among techies here on the history of Karnataka."
The Bangalore Bullet Club is a group of people in love with Bullet motorcycles, and some of the most enthusiastic lot are software professionals with companies such as Wipro, HSBC and HDFC, among others.
The club, which undertook expeditions to Leh in Volume 1 in 2008 and the Western Ghats in Volume 2 about six months ago, will explore Hampi and other historic places during the three-day Volume 3 in December.
On the itinerary are places of historical importance such as Chandavalli Gardens, Chitradurga fort, Chitradurga Sri Mutt, Anegondi and Kamlapur. The club hopes participants will bring back history lessons from the 800-kilometre trip.
"Besides the adventure of riding long distances, we plan to learn more about our history," said Padmanabha.
More than five models of Bullets will be part of the expedition, from a 1964 model to a recent one such as the Royal Enfield Machismo.
Conditions apply
Though Bullet enthusiasts who are not members of the club can join the ride, they have to fulfil certain requirements.
The Bullet for the expedition should be in good condition with all documents intact. The Bullet enthusiasts should be physically fit. Hopefuls will also have to pass certain tests to be conducted by the club before registration.
There are certain restrictions to be followed as well, such as keeping off alcohol.
"We are excited with the Volume 3 of Bulleteers," said Shivkumar M, an enthusiast planning to go on the expedition. "Learning more about history by way of an adventurous ride will certainly be a unique experience. I'll enrol for the ride, which will be my first Bullet expedition."
