Bigger prize money
The Billiards Premier League offers a prize-money pool of approximately R 10 lakh. Each team will consist of six players, which include A-Category players with a handicap of over -190. Speaking at yesterday's press conference, BSAM vice-president Derek Sippy said: "We have upped the prize money and the winning team will now stand to get R 3.20 lakhs, which is almost three times higher than last year. This will ensure that the tournament become more competitive."

Dhruv Sitwala, who recently won the Asian Billiards Championships and is preparing for September's World Championships in Australia, can't wait for the action to begin in the city. "It's a bigger challenge to play with Maharashtra's top and lower category players and that too in a handicap tournament. It will also be a good preparation for forthcoming World Championships," said Sitwala.
