In their bid to encourage commuters participation in bringing to book errant rickshaw drivers for refusing to ply passengers or fleecing them by rigging their meters, traffic constables at Andheri station aptly utilised the festive occasion to spread the message, and did so by distributing sweets amongst travellers.

Officalspeak
Traffic constable Satyavan Sawant said, "Since most traffic cops celebrate their festivals on the road regulating traffic, we thought it was a good idea to distribute sweets and wish the commuters for whom we work. Besides, we also appealed to them to come forward and report errant drivers."

Seconding constable Sawant's opinion, another constable, Mahadev Gade, said, "If passengers who have been refused by drivers report the incidents, then it becomes a solid proof for us to book these arrogant rickshawalas. However, quite often, commuters are in a hurry to reach their destinations, and in their hurry, let go of such incidents."

Constable Savita Jadhav said, "Through our initiative, we want people to become proactive and approach us whenever mistreated by adamant rickshaw drivers."

Commuterspeak
The initiative was well received by the commuters and they even pledged their support to the traffic police in their fight against the menacing autorickshaw drivers.

Krutika Mankodia said, "I am really overwhelmed by their initiative. Hereafter, I shall definitely report every refusal I face."

Echoing her views, Sailee Gada said, "It's high time the commuters come forward to take on the errant auto drivers. It's also good to see that the traffic cops are making efforts to reach out and help the commuters."
