The service is likely to commence in January and the only those travellers who book MTDC tour packages would able to avail the new service. The fleet comprises five busesu00a0People from city who travel to Konkan either go via Kolhapur or go to Mumbai and then travel by train to their desired destination, thus making the journey tiresome. But the new bus service promises easy access to Konkan in any of the seasons.

MTDC Manager Shrikant Javkhedkar said, “All those who were interested in visiting Konkan, insisted that we start a bus service to the region. So we came out with this plan. The buses have already arrived in Mumbai. We are likely to start the service in January.

The luxury buses are comfortable and have toilet facility, which will be helpful for tourists. For Puneites, this service will be more beneficial as there are no trains for Konkan from Pune.”

While three buses would be stationed in Mumbai, two will leave from the city. These buses will be a part of MTDC package tours that includes Sindhudurg, Ratnagiri and Raigardh district. The authorities are yet to chalk out a detailed schedule for the buses.u00a0
