Trio save girl from 'rapist' senior citizen

Prompt action by some alert Mumbaikars helped avert a tragedy in the dark alleys of Chembur's RCF colony near railway track on Thursday evening with the locals uniting to save a minor girl from getting sexually abused.

An eleven-year-old reportedly narrowly escaped being raped by a 60-year-old offender in a Mumbai suburb due to the action taken by the three youngsters.


The accused, identified as Kawal Jaiswal.was allegedly intoxicated, was reportedly trying to force the girl into a dark and secluded location.u00a0

Three boys who stay in the locality saw the senior citizen with the girl and got suspicious and stepped in to save the girl.

According to the police officials, both Jaiswal and the victim stay in the same locality.

Senior police inspector Dilip Yadav from RCF police station said, “We do not have any idea what his intensions where, but looking at his action we can conclude that the trio stopped a big offence”

The heroic trio has been identified as Vishal, Nikhil and Sagar.

Once the trio had gotten hold of the 60-year-old accused, they informed the victim’s family who filed and FIR with the RCF police station.

The accused, who was subsequently arrested, has been booked under section 354 (assault or criminal force to woman with intent) of the Indian Penal code and section 8 of the Children Protection Act 2012.
