Mumbai cricket was abuzz yesterday after a tweet claiming to be from former India pacer and selector Abey Kuruvilla revealed that Abhishek Nayar, who was the skipper for the last Ranji Trophy game against Jharkhand, would be replaced.

There was another tweet stating Sushant Marathe, the Mumbai opener, has been dropped after just one game against Jharkhand and the player replacing him, Kaustubh Pawar, is not in form either.

However, Kuruvilla, who is now a MCA managing committee member, clarified that it was not his Twitter handle. His original handle is @abeyk19.

When MiD DAY called a selector, he said: “We have a selection committee meeting tomorrow and only then we will decide the team against Odisha (starting December 14 at the Wankhede Stadium). The captain will also be decided tomorrow.”
