Two men died after accidentally coming into contact with a transformer in this Uttar Pradesh district, police said. The incident took place in Loni town late Monday night when Shubham, 19, and Atul, 20, members of a brass band, were returning on a horse-driven carriage after an event, said an official from Loni border police station.

On the way, the carriage hit the transformer and current started flowing into it, killing both on the spot. Two other persons on the carriage also sustained electric shock but they survived.

The two deceased were residents of the state's Hardoi district, said Superintendent of Police (Rural) Arvind Maurya, adding their families have been informed. The bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination, he said.
