Two Nepalis arrested with firearms

The Crime Branch on Sunday arrested two Nepali citizens, including a history-sheeter who was allegedly involved in rape, robbery and extortion cases. The police also recovered two pistols and three live cartridges from them.

The Crime Branch on Sunday arrested two Nepali citizens, including a history-sheeter who was allegedly involved in rape, robbery and extortion cases.u00a0 The police also recovered two pistols and three live cartridges from them.

The police identified the accused as Manoj Gambhir Thapa (19), a resident of Warje Malwadi who hails from Kailali district of Nepal, and Durga Babu Mahanto (22), a resident of Vadgaon Budruk who comes from Sirha district in Nepal.

Acting on a tip-off, a team of the Crime Branch Unit II caught the two near the Katraj octroi post around 1.45 pm. A case was registered against them at the Bharti Vidyapeeth police station under relevant sections of the Arms Act and the Bombay Police Act.
