Mumbai: Two country-made revolvers and 26 live cartridges were found dumped in a garbage dump in South Mumbai, police said today.

The firearms were found last night by sweepers when they were cleaning the garbage dump between two buildings, at Mohata market near Masjid Bunder railway station, they said.

"While cleaning, the sweepers spotted a suspicious-looking plastic bag. Upon checking the bag, they found two country-made revolvers and 26 live rounds in it and informed police," Ashok Jagdale, Senior Inspector of MRA Marg police station told PTI.

An FIR has been registered against unknown persons under sections 3 (licence for acquisition and possession of firearms and ammunition) and 25 (punishment for certain offences) under the Arms Act.
