Bangalore has always been conscious of waste management and now Daily Dump has designed a workshop for kids to encourage responsible recycling

It's time for your kids to shed fear of the creepy crawlies and learn their utility in the process of waste composting.

Daily Dump, an organisation that raises awareness on waste management,u00a0has already taught parents garbage management a few years ago by introducing a commercial compost pit which can be kept inu00a0kitchens.

brainchild of Poonam Bir Kasturi, the founder of Daily Dump, it's an earthen pot made of terra-cotta that keeps homesu00a0cleaner.

" We want kids to develop a friendly attitude towards bugs so that they understand that all bugs are not bad. If they continue to think that bugs are nothing but creepy creatures that they should run away from, there won't be anybody left in this world to clean the garbage and manage waste."

Daily Dump along with Mother Earth is hosting a workshop, Bugs, to celebrate the National Recycling Week, where the kids will go undergo a fun session of getting acclimatized to the bugs through story telling, treasure hunt and painting sessions.

"We will offer the kids curds and show them the bacteria that exist in it through a microscope. This will give them an idea that bacteria, which is a kind of bug, is present in the curds, not visible to naked eyes," says Poonam. Similar events have been held across the city in the past two months.

This time the organisers have received confirmation from fifty children already and they are expecting more. "Kids are initially reluctant to participate but once they are brought along, they see the bugs in bottles, play with them and take part in the activities. They just love it," says Poonam.

Poonam has set an age group of four to 12 for the session which promise to impart essential lessons onu00a0 responsible waste management.
