The favourites felt the heat on another scorching summer day as Waghani forced the premature exit of second seed Harsith Gummuluru of Andhra Pradesh 6-3, 6-3, while Samanth shocked third seed Anmay Devaraj of Karnataka with an impressive 6-3, 6-0 win.
Girls' top seed Naisha Srivastav of Karnataka overcame a second set challenge in which she was forced into the tie-breaker before halting qualifier Siddhi Khandelwal of Gujarat 6-2, 7-6. Second seed Sanjana Sirimalla of Telangana was forced into the decider before rallying to a hard-fought 7-5, 1-6, 6-3 win over unseeded Rutuja Chaphalkar of Maharashtra.
