Ulhasnagar Municipal Corporation (UMC) chief Rajendra Nimbalkar, has been booked under the atrocities act for allegedly abusing a UMC corporator from the Republican Party of India (RPI). According to cops, the 46-year-old complainant alleged that he was defamed and abused by Nimbalkar in July. He approached the local police, but they refused to file a complaint against Nimbalkar. He then approached the Kalyan court, which passed an order asking the police to register a case.

Advocate Jay Gaikwad, who is representing the complainant, claims the corporator had continuously tried to approach the local police. "The police did not respond, and on November 6, the complainant was given a letter by the cops that his application was investigated and nothing found in it. On November 7, we approached the Kalyan court, which ordered probe against the commissioner and other police officers, including the DCP and ACP."

Speaking to mid-day, Nimbalkar said, "This is a false case against me. I am being harassed without any fault of mine. The magistrate has ordered an investigation in the case. We will challenge it in the high court."
