Unbelievable on-screen goof-ups in Bollywood films

Bollywood is synonymous with masala, drama and a whole lot of fun. But more often than not, things become unwittingly funny when a careless film-maker some silly bloopers reach the audience. hitlist lists out some of the simply-unbelievable-that-it-escaped-everyone’s-notice goof ups.

Air dropped?
In Jab Tak Hai Jaan (2012), Akira (Anushka Sharma) is standing atop a small cliff right in the middle of a lake and then she jumps in not before screaming out, ‘Jai Mata Di’. Only the goddess can perhaps explain how did the girl manage to reach the cliff without getting wet.

Identity crisis
In the much-loved 3 Idiots (2009) if you notice closely, during the scene where Poonam (Mona Singh) is about to give birth and everyone’s goading her on, the actors, including Boman Irani who plays her dad in the film, led by Aamir Khan, start saying ‘Mona Push’, instead using the name of her character. Looks like the accomplished director Raju Hirani also got so taken in by the emotions on display that this glaring blooper totally escaped his notice.

3 Idiots
In 3 Idiots (2009), Aamir Khan and the rest start saying “Mona push” in the delivery scene, instead of using the name of actress Mona Singh’s character, Poonam

Also: Hirani invented YouTube way before it actually did. 3 idiots released in 2009 and nine years back in flashback (effectively 2000) when the protagonists were students, they log on to youtube.com. Only YouTube was founded five years later.

Running into the future
Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013) is a biopic on the great athlete Milkha Singh and the director, Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra recreated the 1950s quite impressively. But only if he hadn’t missed the fact that Milkha is visiting Pakistan in style, riding a 2012 model, Royal Enfield! Royal blooper, we must say. And you can also spot what looks like a cellphone tower in one of the scenes.

In Bhaag Milkha Bhaag (2013), Farhan Akhtar is shown riding a 2012 model, Royal Enfield in the 1950s

Look ma, no hands
In Jai Ho (2014), Genelia D’souza has lost both her hands and decides to end her life because she doesn’t find anyone willing to write her exam on her behalf. It’s a tear -jerking situation, as we watch her standing on a parapet of a building, in front of a barricade just about to jump down. How does a woman with no arms jump the barricade?

Superstar concession?
In Chalte Chalte (2003), Shah Rukh Khan is looking for Rani Mukerji and he flies to Spain when he comes to know that she is just about to get engaged to someone else. Just who gave him a visa for Spain in a day? Did the real-life superstar use his clout?

Wrong court-ing
In Jolly LLB (2013), Arshad Warsi files a PIL in a Sessions Court! The protagonist of this movie is an advocate so one would think that the director Subhash Kapoor would know that all PILs are filed at the High Court.

Side tracked
In the climax of RA.One (2011) the train is shown crossing Bandra station and then passing Vile Parle before finally crashing into CST train station. Any Mumbaikar would tell you that Bandra and Vile Parle are not only in the opposite direction of CST, but also a different railway line altogether! CST is on the central line while Bandra and Vile Parle are on the western suburbs.

Spoilsports
Kai Po Che (2013) is set in 2001-2002 based on a story set during the Gujarat riots during that time. But strangely when the three heroes of the film set a sports shop, they install a huge cut out of Sachin Tendulkar wearing the 2007 World Cup jersey.

Miscalculation
In Kuch Kuch Hota Hai (1998), Rani Mukerji’s character writes eight letters for her daughter to read every year on her birthday…till she turns eight. Did she expect her child to read her letters on her first and second birthdays?

A train of errors
In the delightful film Jab We Met (2007) , director Imtiaz Ali missed a vital point. The protagonists of the film, played by Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor, are said to be travelling between Mumbai-Delhi. But they are seen aboard train number 2137, Punjab Mail which travels between Mumbai and Punjab!

The stocking truth
In Dhoom 3 (2013), Katrina Kaif strips to do a sensuous dance to the Kamli song in a bid to impress Aamir Khan’s character. When she is dressed in dungarees, she has no stockings, but when she strips down, a pair of them appear mysteriously. We are thinking the cast and crew was so busy gaping at Kat’s moves, that no one noticed!

Dhoom 3 was full of many miracles. In another scene, Abhishek Bachchan and Uday Chopra ride into a fight scene in a BMW bike which a few moments later transforms itself into a Yamaha Rs 1.
