Deepu Santhan is in deep shock ever since his younger brother S Sreesanth was arrested on May 16 after Rajasthan Royals' Indian Premier League tie in Mumbai for alleged involvement in spot fixing.

Very painful to see Sreesanth behind bars, says brother

Santhan found it difficult to express his emotions after meeting the India pacer at Tihar Jail here. “I can’t explain how difficult it was to see him being kept with the other accused behind bars. It was very painful. We haven’t gone to any police station in our life,” Santhan told SUNDAY MiD DAY.u00a0

Santhan said Sreesanth is still in a state of shock. “He is unable to believe that all this is happening to him. He is unable to understand what’s happening in his life. He is going through a lot of pain. He keeps asking why all this is happening to him,” said Santhan.

Sree loses weight
His brother informed that Sreesanth has lost around eight kilos of weight. “He has no complains about the food that is served, but he is unable to eat anything,” Santhan said.

Apparently, the family was planning for Sreesanth’s marriage in October this year. “They (Delhi Police) haven’t found any evidence against Sree. My brother just wants to play cricket because that is his life. We were planning to get him married this year.

Sree was preparing for the South Africa tour (later this year) very well because he was confident of getting a recall (in Tests),” he said. Santhan is confident Sreesanth will come out clean. “I am 100 per cent confident that Sree is not involved in spot fixing.

Even his friend Jiju Janardan is innocent. Sree met Jiju 10 years ago at the MRF Pace foundation (Chennai). From there on, they developed a very good relationship. Jiju would often come home,” Santhan said. “Truth will prevail. We are praying all the time,” he concluded.u00a0
