Swami Vivekanand, Borivali's Vighnesh Kharge cracked a sparkling, unbeaten hundred to be one of the highlights of the opening day of the Elite Group  section of the Harris Shield inter-school cricket tournament. At the Parsee Gymkhana yesterday, Vighnesh ended the day with 117 against IES Modern English School (Dadar). His innings included 14 fours and a six which was clubbed over square leg.

Rishit, Atharva strike
The versatile strokeplayer was well supported by Rajsingh Deshmukh who scored  44 before being run out. At stumps, Swami Vivekanand were 194 for one. Suved Parkar was the other unbeaten batsman with 25. Earlier, chinaman bowler Rishit Patwal (3-27) and medium pacer Atharva Chavan (3-15) helped Swami Vivekanand  bowl out IES Modern English School for 88 in 37.2 overs

Aizaz claims seven
Al Barkaat MMI English's right-arm medium pacer Aizaz Khan ran trough IES New English School at the Cross Maidan with a seven-wicket spell which saw the Bandra outfit being bowled out for a paltry 47. Later, Shadab Khan scored an unbeaten 109 for Al Barkaat to finish the day with 269 for five in 56 overs.  Meer Rizvi (65) was the other unbeaten batsman. Swapnil Chauhan chipped in with 48. Left-handed Shadab, who also is an opening batsman and pace bowler, was sent in at No 6 yesterday after side were in trouble at 70 for five.


Nine is fine for Kedar
Kedar Sardesai, a bespectacled left-arm spinner claimed nine wickets for 108 as Shardashram Vidyamandir English dismissed Swami Vivekanand Kandivali for 266 in 63 overs. Shardashram ended the day with 54 for four.

Rizvi have Ajit to thank
Rizvi Springfield bundled out Cathedral & John Connon for 75 at the Vengsarkar Academy, Oval Maidan. Rizvi's medium pacer Ajit Yadav  claimed four wickets in a nine-over spell which included five maidens. He gave away only 11 runs. Rizvi's batsmen too fared well to end the day on 214 for three with Shreyas Mandlik four runs away from a century.

Unlucky Vedprakash
IES VN Sule Guruji's Vedprakash Jaiswal was unlucky to miss a century by eight runs against Lilavati Podar while Kaushal Valsankar ended the day unbeaten on 63 with his team score on 208 for 3 in 56 overs.
