Secunderabad: Manish Pandey smashed a quickfire unbeaten century before pacer Abhimanyu Mithun scalped four wickets to guide Karnataka to a comfortable 104-run win over Tamil Nadu in a South Zone leg match of the Vijay Hazare Trophy here today.


Coming on to bat a No. 4, Pandey scored an attacking 101 off just 74 balls with the help of 10 fours and three sixes, while Australia-bound K L Rahul hit a sedate half-century to enable Karnataka post 313 for six in their alloted 50 overs.


Rahul, who was today picked in India's Test squad for Australia, justified his selection by scoring 67 off 94 balls during which he struck six boundaries and two sixes.


Mayank Agarwal also played a breezy knock of 40 while opener Robin Uthappa (20), Shishir Bhavane (25) and R Vinay (28) were the other notable run-getter for Karnataka.

R Sathish (2/49) and left-arm orthodox bowler D T Chandrasekar ((2/75) picked up two wickets apiece for Tamil Nadu.

Chasing the imposing total, Tamil Nadu were bowled out for 209 in 43.5 overs with pacer Mithun (4/38) doing bulk of the damage, and he was ably assisted by left-arm spinner Abrar Kazi (3/14).

Dinesh Karthik top-scored for Tamil Nadu with a 60-ball 63, while V Yomahesh was the other half-centurion for Tamil Nadu with a 54-ball 55.

Apart from the duo, opener Murali Vijay scored 33, while Baba Aparajith could only manage 28 as Tamil Nadu's chase fell by the way side.

Karnataka: 313 for six in 50 overs (Manish Pandey 101 not out, K L Rahul 67; R Sathish 2/49).

Tamil Nadu: 209 all out in 43.5 overs (Dinesh Karthik 63, V Yomahesh 55; Abhimanyu Mithun 4/38).
