Doctors at the hospital said that though his condition is stable as of now, he is being monitored by a team of three doctors after he complained of chest pain and difficulty in breathing. Speaking to Sunday MiD DAY, Dr JP Jadhwani, a cardiologist at the hospital who is treating Kambli, said, “He is recovering well and is being constantly monitored by our team of doctors. We conducted the routine tests and will decide whether he will require any further treatment and when he can be discharged from the hospital.”

Kambli was rushed to the hospital in the nick of time after he first started experiencing symptoms similar to a heart attack while driving to Bandra from Chembur where he had gone for a meeting. Senior inspector of the Matunga Traffic Division, Sujata Patil and a constable Kumar Datta Shedage then spotted him in his white Pajero from where they drove him to the hospital within 20 minutes.

Reliving the incident, Patil said that after calling the control room, roads leading to the Bandra hospital were decongested from Chunabhatti, Sion. “He was crying the entire time and we were extremely worried about his well being. Thankfully, he received treatment on time,” she said.
