The work on the second phase of the Wadala-Jacob Circle monorail is moving ahead on a war footing and the line is expected to be operational by the middle of 2016.

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) is gearing up to energise the 22KV HT cable fitted on the concrete guideway from Wadala depot station to GTB Nagar station and from GTB Nagar station to Antop Hill station – a distance of about 3 kms. The high voltage cables will remain energised and shall be treated as live at all times from June 12.

"We at MMRDA, therefore, appeal to the citizens not to work or approach the vicinity as it can prove dangerous," said Dilip Kawathkar, Joint Project Director (PR) MMRDA.

The second phase of the Monorail project from Wadala to Sant Gadge Maharaj Chowk is also getting ready to serve Mumbaikars very soon according to the authorities. The Phase-I of the Monorail corridor from Chembur to Wadala was launched last February.
