Satiate that fashion fetish during this festival of colours by adding hues of pink and blue to your wardrobe from Dolly J's latest Spring/Summer line

When designer Dolly Jhunjhunwala showcased her Spring/Summer collection at the last Wills India fashion Week, she got rave reviews. Now she's headed south from her abode in Delhi to pep up the wardrobes of us, Bangaloreans.

She opens her collections today with a coffee morning. Browse through her latest creations as they bring with them a desi feel with a modern twist (by adding frills on sarees and the likes).

A Fine Arts Graduate, Dolly J's portraits of Indian women became conversation starters at an early age, which was when she established her designer roots. Namita Gupta speaks with Dolly J on her latest collections...

Namita Gupta: What's the inspiration of your collection?
Dolly Jhunjhunwala:
My spring/summer line has been inspired by the shades of the corals and the sea and the Mediterranean blues. A melange of multiple materials, techniques, textures and experimentation brings out the best in sarees, lehengas and tunics.

NG: What are the colours for this Spring/Summer?
DJ:
I have played with shades of pink and blue, true to the spirit of an aquamarine mermaid. A coral pink is complemented with an aquamarine blue even as powder pink plays with sky blue on Indian silhouettes. Geometric and floral embroideries, sequins, laces and appliques adorn my creations.

NG: What are the fabrics you have used?
DJ:
Fabrics like georgette and sheer fabrics like chiffon and net have been used to be true to the spirit of spring.

NG: How do you add the Dolly touch to your range?
DJ:
My line truly embodies the woman of today as they transcend from one phase to another. It has been my endeavour that all the intricately handcrafted pieces bear a hint of exquisite craftsmanship.

At: Raintree, Sankey Road, Opp. Windsor Manor.
Her collections are also available at Samsaara, Indiranagar.
On: February 23 and 24
