The space adds another option for performing in Versova; a rehearsal in progress
The theatre scene in the city has a new space called Castiko for its patrons, and a set of fresh performances by various artistes will be held there at a launch event called Stories in the Shed. Shiv Tandon, founder of the space, says, "The audience will witness an evening of amazing short performances about everyday life by upcoming artistes. This will be followed by light dinner and drinks, where we are hoping to connect with people who wish to promote similar activities."
The line-up for the inaugural event includes monologues, poetry performances and a musical act. And the artistes are Aakash Prabhakar, Abhinav Grover, Chrisann Pereira, Natasha Goradia, Abhishek Chauhan, Vidyuth Gargi, Nishank Verma, Saurabh Jain, Rochelle D'silva, Hasan Baldiwala and Shivani Gupta. Tandon adds that Castiko is a place for actors and casting directors to get together. The space houses three meeting rooms, two recording studios, a chill room and a cafeteria, besides a shed for rehearsals and shows. The management aims to create a membership-based community of patrons and artistes who can use the space for creative collaborations and to shoot videos, record music and rehearse for their performances.
Tandon also says that the reason behind establishing the venue is to bridge the gap between casting directors and actors, saying, "This is just the beginning and we are looking forward to organising more such shows and talks by bringing together different artistes and creating a pool of opportunities at the space."
