Despite losing all their five matches, DD skipper says they will win the next six home ties to enter Top 4

We just need to get a few results going our way: Jayawardene

Winless Delhi Daredevils (DD) will have to pull something special out of their bag to beat Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Feroz Shah Kotla here today.

DD suffered a Super Over defeat to Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on Tuesday night — their fifth consecutive loss in IPL-VI — making their chances of qualifying for the knockout stages seem slim.

However, captain Mahela Jayawardene is confident DD will make the knockouts by winning all its remaining home games (six). “We will give ourselves a chance to get into the final four if we can win our home games. That is something we really have to focus on,” he said after DD’s loss to RCB.

“We just need to get a few results going our way. We probably tend to make negative decisions. So those are things we need to get rid of from our minds and be very positive. It is important that we go with a positive frame of mind because we’ve got a very good team. The talent is there, the ability is there,” he added.

DD’s chances depend a lot of on how Virender Sehwag and David Warner fare at the top. Barring left-arm spinner Shahbaz Nadeem, the Delhi attack comprising the likes of Umesh Yadav, Morne Morkel and Ashish Nehra have proved to be expensive.

Meanwhile, two-time champions CSK, with a 50 per cent record in four matches, find themselves in seventh place in the points table. Their openers too have not been consistent. Michael Hussey has been their most prolific batsman, but he did not feature in the match against Pune on Monday with the management opting for all-rounder Albie Morkel instead.

Murali Vijay, on the other hand, has come good only once in four innings.u00a0

Dhoni’s wishlist
>> Openers do not fail
>> The match does not go down to the wire again
>> Ravichandran Ashwin bowls economically
>> Suresh Raina dominates in the middle
>> Dwayne Bravo makes an impact with both bat and ball

Mahela’s wishlist
>> The dangerous duo of David Warner and Virender Sehwag come good
>> He anchors the innings
>> Bowlers can contain the big-hitters in the CSK line-up
>> Ravindra Jadeja fails miserably with bat and ball
>> The losing streak finally comes to an endu00a0

When they last met... Murali Vijay won it for CSK
Chennai Super Kings and Delhi Daredevils previously locked horns for a place in the final of IPL-V in Chennai. Delhi Daredevils, in order to strengthen their batting dropped their most prominent fast bowler Morne Morkel, but that proved costly. Chennai, after being put into bat, blazed away to 222 with Murali Vijay scoring a century. The response from Delhi was weak as they ended up 86 runs short for Chennai to accomplished a straightforward victory. u00a0
