Apparently afraid to ride horses for a film promotion, Farhan Akhtar and Co let the younger actors take the reins

Were 'Fukrey' filmmakers afraid to ride horses?

Often actors go the extra mile to find out newer and more innovative ways to promote their upcoming films. But looks like this crop of ‘senior’ actors actually let the ‘juniors’ in the team get into the driver’s seat, almost literally.u00a0

Initially, actor-producer Farhan Akhtar and co-producer Ritesh Sidhwani apparently had agreed to gallop into the promotional venue on horses, to add a dose of drama to the event. However, sources say at the last minute they backed out because they were scared! Instead they asked the younger actors to take over the reins and instead chose to ride to the venue on bicycles.

Since the story revolves around a group of guys trying to get admission into a college, a grand music launch was arranged at the Atma Ram Sanatan Dharma College in Delhi.

“This particular decision was taken as the first shot in the promo shows the two boys enter the college on horses! Not only the two producers, even writer-director Mrigdeep Lamba was supposed to reach the venue like knights but none of that happened. Perhaps they developed cold feet at the last moment,” says a source present at the location.

Finally, the makers took a call that the film’s younger cast would ride the horses whereas Ritesh, Farhan and Mrigdeep would be coming on their two-wheeler.

Adds the informer, “They thought why not let the newcomers soak in the limelight. Besides, the trio wasn’t very comfortable with the idea of horse riding and that too in a packed venue like a campus. Interestingly, the four actors -- Pulkit Samrat, Ali Faisal, Manjot Singh and Varun Sharma -- were more than happy and made a filmi entry to dhol beats playing in the background.” u00a0
