Why you should sign up for this social media workshop

Social media has emerged as one of the fastest growing media and many brands have used this opportunity to gain growth and revenue. Social Samosa, a city-based online publication on social media marketing hopes to bridge the knowledge gap in the ecosystem with a workshop that helps participants explore the possibilities of the platform.

"Social media gives the power to reach your target audience with a greater degree of precision and lower cost when compared to other media. Since the medium propels the idea of two-way communication, it gives you an opportunity to converse and engage with your target audience in real time," reasons Hitesh Rajwani, of Social Samosa, on the importance of tapping into the medium.

The workshop aims at equipping participants with the knowledge to devise a social media strategy, plan the right balance between paid, owned and earned media, run ads on various social media platforms, find the right influencers, leverage analytics and data to improvise business processes. Attendees at the day-long session will also receive learning material, access to an online forum for further discussion and a certificate of completion.

Rajwani points to the fact that there is high competition among brands to capture the attention of digital users who spend more than three hours a day on social media. "The challenge is that the real metrics for social media measurement are still undefined. Hence the return on investment in social media is debatable," he feels.

Yet, amidst the hype, Rajwani is frank about the disadvantages. "The opportunity to communicate seamlessly comes with a disclaimer to be prepared for the worst. The underbelly of the Indian social media ecosystem is affected by the business of fake likes, followers, and spammy trends." Workshops like this one, he assures, will enable users with insightful analysis and safe practices so they can make most of social media.
