During Ganeshotsav this year, an MNS corporator will work in close quarters with a Sena mayor to build an artificial lake at the Mayor's bungalow
This time, during Ganpati immersion, a Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) corporator will host the immersion at the Mayor’s bungalow at Dadar. It remains to be seen whether the Shiv Sena party Mayor can work with the MNS Corporator without much trouble.
Last year, the ward had a Shiv Sena corporator who lost his seat to MNS’s Sandeep Deshpande this year, who will host the immersions with the Shiv Sena Mayor, Sunil Prabhu. Deshpande also plans to build an artificial lake to make immersion easier for people. Preparations for the immersions of more than 1,600 ganpati idols have already begun at the bungalow.

This year has seen a marked rise in the number of artificial lakes, along with the expected rise in the number of sarvajanik pandals and Ganpati idols.
Last year, Mumbai had 95 venues for immersion, including 22 artificial lakes. Around 1,90,000 household Ganpati idols and 10,500 sarvajanik pandal idols were immersed. The artificial lake was created at the Mayor’s bungalow, and 23 spots in the city to curb water pollution.
Deshpande, along with Prabhu, will actively participate in the
preparation of the artificial lake for the immersion. Deshpande said, “The Brihanmumbai Mumbai Corporation (BMC) does this every year for the past four years and I will be a part of the preparation. I plan to construct another artificial lake for immersion at a playground, too.”
Prabhu said, “According to the BMC policy, all the concerned authorities will be available for the construction and preparation of the lake. The corporator will be there as well, and work has already begun.”u00a0
