Woman commits suicide to avoid being caught for illegal construction in her home

In order to prevent action against her house, as part of a drive against illegal constructions in the Pimple Gurav area by the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC), a 30-year-old woman committed suicide by jumping from the fourth floor of a building on Tuesday. The Vishwagora Banjara Seva Sangh and her husband have refused to touch the deceased's body till a murder case is registered against the officials concerned and action is initiated.


The deceased has been identified as Devibai Ram Pawar, a resident of Devkar Park. She is survived by her husband Tulsiram Pawar. Sources said the incident took place when a PCMC team arrived to take action against unauthorised houses. Devibai was rushed to Aundh Hospital. However, she succumbed to her injuries. A police officer said, "Her husband has filed a complaint but no case has been registered."
