Resident Taruna Dhingra Kumar, 28, was found dead under her building, but the Worli police said it was not clear whether she had committed suicide or if it was an accident. The police said that the victim was married to Dhawal Kumar, an associate with the Bank of America Merrill Lynch, for just over a year.

Kumar had studied at IIM Ahmedabad and IIT Delhi, whereas Taruna was the daughter of Ramkishan Dhingra, a soap wholesaler in Delhi. Vinay Kulkarni, senior police inspector at Worli police station, said, “The watchman heard a thud on Friday night at around 2.39 pm. When he went to check, he found a women lying in a pool of blood.”

He immediately went to her flat on the 10th floor. Her husband Dhawal was at home with his brother Dhruv and two of his other friends. Since they haven't been questioned yet, the police are not sure if they were having a party.

“Dhawal, his brother Dhruv and two other friends broke down the door to her room, only to find the French windows open. She was taken to Nair hospital where she was declared dead on arrival,” said Kulkarni. “As of now, the family hasn’t filed a complaint. We suspect she fell since the windows don’t have iron grills,” he added.

The police have seized the phone and are going through the deceased’s call details to find out who she had spoken before the incident. Taruna’s family has asked the police and doctors to not carry out a post mortem yet, since one of her sisters, Savi, is yet to arrive in the city.
