In yet another incident of sexual assault by an acquaintance, a 32-year-old woman was allegedly drugged and raped by her friend in Rohini area of outer Delhi. The woman, identified as Neena (name changed), a native of Panipat but living in Rohini at present, was later dumped by the accused in Peeragarhi. An FIR of rape and abduction has been lodged in this regard at Vijay Vihar police station.

A senior police official said the victim was asked by her friend of many years, identified as Sonu alias Tinku (32), a resident of Panipat, to go to Durga Puja pandal with him. Her husband had gone to Himachal Pradesh for some business-related work at the time, so she agreed.
Laced drink
"Sonu called Neena near Rithala Metro station on the pretext of visiting a Durga Puja pandal. He then offered her soft drinks laced with sedatives. According to the victim, after having the drink, she felt giddy. Sonu then took her to a room in the area where he raped her. When she tried to object, he even beat up her. He then dumped her at Peeragarhi crossing in his car and fled," said a police official.u00a0
"A passerby then informed the police that a woman was lying in a semi-conscious condition in the area. A PCR van rushed the victim to Sanjay Gandhi Hospital, where she gave her statement to the police. Sonu is absconding and a manhunt has been launched to nab him," he added.
