The Bhojane household in Lalbaug area erupted in celebration at the news of 15-year-old Yash's (IES VN Sule Guruji, Dadar) inclusion in the Mumbai U-16 squad for the Vijay Merchant Trophy to be played at MCA's Kandivli ground.

Yesterday, Yash slammed a fluent 216 against IES English HS in the MSSA-Harris Shield Elite Division inter-school cricket tournament at Azad Maidan. His knock helped the Dadar school win by virtue of a first innings lead.

“Today is a memorable day. I scored 216 and also got selected for the Mumbai U-16 team. With no performances to back me, I was just a standby in the side. Little did I know that one knock could change my fate,”  said Yash.

He added: “After the match, I was heading home when I got a call about my inclusion in the U-16 squad. I had to then pack my bags to be with the team,” he said.

Yash thanked his family and coach Mandar Gokarn: “My parents have sacrificed a lot to ensure my cricketing needs are fulfilled. I wouldn’t have achieved whatever little success I’ve had without Mandar sir,”  he added.
