A Std X student drowned while swimming in the Banganga Tank at Walkeshwar last evening. Mangesh Shrikant Angne and his friends had gone to the tank at 2.30 pm to enjoy a dip.
However, around 4.30 pm, locals noticed that the boy had drowned. They called the fire brigade and other authorities, who showed up two hours later. Around 6.30 pm, officials arrived at the scene and tried to fish out the boy from the water.u00a0

A bunch of 25-year-olds helped the authorities and the body was taken out at 7.25 pm. He was then taken to Nair hospital but was declared dead on arrival by the medical staff. Locals claimed that the authorities had come unprepared and were not carrying any equipment. Text & Pics/Bipin Kokateu00a0
