Former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa, who was granted bail in two cases related to land scam, got anticipatory bail in the High Court in two other cases yesterday.

While lawyers Sirajin Pasha and K N Balraj had filed five cases with three instances each in the Lokayukta special court, Yeddyurappa was remanded to judicial custody in two cases (PCR-2 and PCR-3) before he got bail last week.

With the High Court granting him anticipatory bail in two cases (PCR-1 and PCR-4), Yeddyurappa has received further respite. In addition, his bail petition in PCR-5 is pending in court.

Another bench of the High Court stayed probing on the disproportionate asset (DA) case filed against H D Balakrishne Gowda, the eldest son of former prime minister H D Deve Gowda.

Meanwhile, Justice N Santhosh Hegde, former Lokayukta, rebuked the allegations leveled against him by former chief minister B S Yeddyurappa that his report on illegal mining was politically motivated.

Addressing a press conference, he said that he had not favoured any political party through his report and leaving out S M Krishna's name was deliberate, as he had not found a case against the former chief minister.

He pointed at an interview, which appeared in a local newspaper denigrating the Lokayukta saying the it was published because the editor of the newspaper was named in the report on illegal mining.
