Med Education Minister Vijaykumar Gavit loses cool, shouts at workers who raise issue of work outsourcing at Sassoon

The ministeru00a0 said this as he was unable to control his anger when workers raised many issues, including filling of 120 vacant posts, salary delays, failure to implement Sixth Pay Commission recommendations, bad conditions in many wards and, most importantly, a change in the decision on outsourcing of works because of lack of cleanliness in Sassoon.
Gavit finally controlled himself and promised to tackle all the issues soon. Many issues have already been decided upon, depending on the policy of the government.
Earlier, in the jansavad, Gavit interacted with some elected representatives, professors, staff, students and finally the Class III and Class IV workers' representatives.
There was a heated exchange with Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) leaders Ravindra Dhangekar, Sushila Netke and Prashant Mate as they were not given a chance to speak in the meeting.
Sunil Atole, general secretary, Maharashtra Navnirman Workers Union, later decided to wear a black ribbon as a sign of protest aginst Gavit for his behavior.
Many issues of Class III and Class IV workers were raised by Atole along with other union leaders, including Sanjay Memjade, N D Waghmare, Dinesh Kuchekar, Dilip Pawar, Shashikant Jadhav and Anuradha Athawale.
Gavit avoided speaking on outsourcing of work for cleanliness in Sassoon with the workers. After the meeting, Gavit said that the tendering process for outsourcing shall begin in the first or second week of June for the work to start in Sassoon with other 13 government hospitals attached with medical colleges in the state in the next two months.
"Outsourcing was opposed in all the 14 government hospitals in the state," he said. "We have set the norms for cleanliness and the first private company to whom the contracts shall be given for three years. The existing Class IV staff shall not be removed but they will be given the same work in other departments. No new recruitment shall be made for Class IV workers."
