New Delhi: Scores of Youth Congress workers today clashed with police as they were prevented from marching towards Parliament during a protest over the "false promises" of the Narendra Modi government.

Police had to resort to a mild lathicharge after the protesters, who had gathered for the 'Jan Akrosh Rally', tried to march towards Parliament by breaching police barricades. Heavy police deployment was made at the protest venue with police and paramilitary personnel pressed into service.

"Our Yuva Jan Akrosh Rally is against the Modi government. BJP came to power by making false promises to the people of the country. We have not seen any good work in the first 100 days of the Modi government," said Amit Malik, the state Youth Congress state president.

The protesters, who came from various states, raised slogans against the Modi government.
