The victim, who belongs to scheduled caste, was allegedly gangraped by G Srinivas and a 17-year-old teenager. Another 17-year-old had recorded the act on his mobile phone.

"Srinivas and two juveniles were produced before a court. While Srinivas was sent in judicial remand, the two minors were sent to a juvenile home," Huzurabad Sub-Division Deputy Superintendent of Police Ravinder Reddy said.

One of the three accused had joined the same coaching class as the girl had, for preparing for competitive examination for police recruitment.

The incident had taken place on the outskirts of Veenavanka village in Karimnagar on February 10 when the three youths, the complainant, and her woman friend were returning home after watching a movie.

"The trio took the two women to a hillock and it seems one of the women sensed danger and ran away. Two of the youths allegedly raped the victim while the third one shot a video on his cell phone," a senior police officer had said.

The victim told her parents about the incident only three days back, after which her relatives beat up the trio on February 24 evening and they were admitted to a hospital in the neighbouring Warangal district.

Afterwards, a rape complaint was filed. The accused have also been charged under the SC/ST (Prevention of Atrocities) Act and the Information Technology Act.

Police had also registered a case against those who thrashed the three accused.
